All Credit for Nyx Goes to: Pen Stroke
Hey everypony! So, are you feeling that Town Square still is empty? Want to get involved in the project? Well, now is your chance! Today, we will give you the chance to have one of your OC’s (Original Character) be put into My Little Investigations! So, before I get this ball rolling, let’s lay down some ground rules for this contest.
1. Each entry must have a name, picture, and brief background description of the original character. By brief, I mean keep it under a couple of paragraphs. No novels please. The character must be a pony from either the earth, pegasi, or unicorn race. No alicorns or non-ponies allowed here since we want to keep the game as show accurate as possible.
1a. You may submit as many OC’s to us as you want. You may put multiple OC’s in your entry instead of making one for each one. However, rest assured that there will only be ONE winning OC per winner. And remember, quality will always beat out quantity. We want to see your best!
2. You will have one month to submit your entries from today. All entries will be accepted up till September 19th, 12 AM PST. We will select the best three entries from the list.
3. Absolutely NO grim-dark, rule 34, inappropriate/controversial (for example, using a religious symbol for a cutie mark) OC ponies will be considered.
4. You are certainly allowed to ponify any member of the team if you so wish. However, doing so will not gain you extra consideration. We will consider every entry equally.
5. If you are one of the three winners, you will be allowed to write a short joke (That WILL be voiced by our voice actors) involving the OC pony and Twilight. However, Equestrian Dreamers has the right to modify or write another joke if we find it necessary.

The pony creator has a button that you can use to save an image file containing your created pony. Then you can email us that image file.

I need to ask, are any kinds of facial markings considered grimdark? What about slightly reddened eyes?
That’s fine; we’re more thinking about backgrounds like, “Pony X is a hardened war hero turned secret axe murderer.” 😛 Reddened eyes is not exactly grimdark, at least not necessarily.

Can’t wait for the results. The suspense is already killing me. I have just one question;
In the post, it says; “If you are one of the three winners, you will be allowed to write a short joke”. What if one can’t think of a “Short joke”?
We can write one if a winner can’t. Either way, we’ll work with the winners to make sure that everyone’s as happy as possible with their characters’ inclusion in the game.

Another demo is definitely in our plans. Probably to come sometime in September. As for a release date, we will not say anything about that now. We refuse to set expectations the team can’t guarantee to meet yet.
Would it be OK to ponify a character from a different series? (Like submitting a Phoenix Wright pony?)
Could be a little dicey having a copyrighted character ponified. We know that Hasbro is very nice about this sort of thing with fan works and so forth. Other owners of media, such as Disney and Lucasarts, I believe have been much, much more strict on slapping fans with cease and desist notifications. Obviously, it would be kind of bad if a one-shot OC used as a background pony ended up getting us in trouble, so… probably best to stay away from copyrighted characters when it comes to creating an OC for this contest.

Hi there everypony! I’m unsure if this is the proper area to post this and hopefully I don’t get flamed too much due to lack of knowledge…. But I was wondering where exactly would a person get access to the “pony creator”. I might be interested in creating something for this awesome project for consideration but alas my artistic skills leave something to be desired… A program that offers some kind of assistance such that this one might would really be a huge help for me to make something even somewhat worthy of consideration!

Hey thanks for that link there GabuEx! Hopefully I can make something worthy of being in the game, I just made one, but I am having a hard time coming up with a name… I have to make the name sound like something the show makers would have named a pony in theirs so that it would not sound out of place.
One thing I would like to ask though if I may. Is it okay if a Pegasus type pony also has stripes like a zebra? I know that this has never been done in the show as far as I know, but I think it looks pretty interesting like this. : )
You’re certainly welcome to submit it; we’ve gotten other OCs with markings and such like on their body as well.
Event if we don’t necessarily win the contest, could are OCs still show up in game as background, or possibly side, characters?
I mean “Even” not “Event”
Unfortunately, that’s not likely – every character we put in the game has to be created by our artists, meaning that more characters we put into the game means more work for our artists, and they’re already worked pretty darn hard as it is. Sorry. 🙁
PLEASE tell me you’re ACTUALLY going to use Nyx!? I can understand if not, but it WOULD make quite a few people happy.
No, we’re not – Nyx was just used as a well-known OC to put in a header. We’d like our winners to be fairly unassuming characters who wouldn’t be liable to cause a big stir if they were seen in Ponyville, and Nyx, well… would. 😛
I was thinking that Cruise Control from Turnabout Storm would be a great character for this game. Actually, I just love Cruise Control.
